A more medium developed roast, intended for those who take their coffee black or add something to it. Lower acidity, and a little bit toasty.
A medium to lightly developed coffee. Somewhat acidic and very fruity aromas. For those who want a little bit of adventure.
Available in 1/2lb and 1/4lb
A medium developed blend. Great for those times when you want a cup, but full caffeine is just too much.
A medium developed decaffeinated coffee from Mexico. A slightly spicy flavour quality, with a lower acidity. Great any time of day.

These are grinders I recommend, which have good reputations.

A great starting point grinder, the Encore has been a go-to, great grinder for many many years. Also, Baratza has many replacement parts making sure your Encore will last for as long as you want to keep it.
An update to the great baseline Encore, designed for espresso. A bit more expensive than the base, though for espresso, you need to be able to grind fine enough for proper extraction, and non-espresso grinders can’t really do it.
The grinder I personally use. A bit more expensive, though the quality of life improvements – it’s a bit quieter, has automatic shut-off, less grind retention (and also very aesthetically pleasing) – make it an easy recommendation.
Fellow’s new all-purpose grinder. For espresso or filter coffee, and a bit more affordable compared to the Ode.
A great, classic hand grinder. Pairs really well with the Aeropress.
Check out other options – other grinders, brewers, kettles, everything you need.
I started Hölbean from a desire to improve my knowledge with this drink I love, as well as help make specialty coffee more approachable for those who want to appreciate what they drink in their cup, and maybe aren’t sure where to start.
I worked in specialty coffee for many years, as a Barista, Cafe Manager, Coffee Trainer, and now Coffee Roaster.
In that time, I found there’s often a disconnect between the two sides of the bar, which then translates to lack of understanding between barista and customer, as well as a lack of understanding and appreciation for coffee itself.
Typically, baristas are expected to be highly skilled and knowledgeable of all the nuances of the coffee they serve, at speed. As a result, they often can feel unappreciated for the craft they’re practicing, or be judgemental towards particular orders which might seem to be “ruining” the beverage they’ve prepared.
Simultaneously, customers are often unaware of the craft which goes into making great coffee, or why specialty coffee costs what it does. As such, they can be caught off-guard by the cost or time to complete a beverage – feeling irritated, confused, or that they’ve been overcharged.
And, sometimes, I’ve met customers and baristas who can feel intimidated by all the coffee language, gear, etc. and so don’t feel they can join in.
That’s where Hölbean comes in.
Following the pandemic, I began to teach myself coffee roasting to increase my own knowledge of coffee, and in so doing pass that knowledge on to others. Hölbean Coffee Company is the result.
Hölbean is coffee for people who want to know more, who appreciate a good coffee, but are maybe just starting out in their coffee exploration, and feel judged for how they enjoy coffee, or maybe don’t yet feel confident enough to dive into the specialty coffee world.
I’m here to hold open that door.
